Location

Located on the north-west border of Bat-Yam,
where the city meets Jaffa.
Municipal Project

The plan:
To address the join between the Bat-Yam and
Jaffa beaches, and attend to the north-west
entrance to the city, focusing on both access to
the beach and the connection between Bat-Yam and
Jaffa.
Implementation:
A new road has been paved, including a bicycle
route, along with a pedestrian boardwalk and
parking. A sewage pumping station is planned.
Personality

The municipal plan in a way isolates the area it
addresses, in that surrounding roads, buildings
and open spaces have been left out of the
development plan. the focus on a specific zone
has disconnected the local residential buildings
and access roads to the beach from the addressed
area. The site’s proximity to Jaffa is central
to its identity, specifically the abrupt
transition between the two. Located on a
10-meter (roughly 35 feet) high cliff above the
beach itself, the area overlooks an underwater
nature reserve. The beach itself is considered
marginal and is mostly uncared for. Many
underdeveloped, neglected public spaces exist in
the area which are free for intervention, as the
municipality holds no plans for them, including
a local neglected Naval Center adjacent to cared
for area.
