Location

Northern section of Balfur St, Bat-Yam's main
North-South route.
Municipal Project

The plan:
Revival of the street through physical
improvement and commercial and cultural
development. Creation of points of interest
along the length of the street to improve
passage through.
Implementation:
Basic changes have been completed, including
repaving the road and sidewalk.
Personality

The street is one of Bat-Yam's main transit
routes as well as a central commerce center. A
mixed-use urban area that merges commerce and
residence, the street’s architecture is
characterized by back-set storefronts on the
street level, which creates shaded passages and
pauses below the residential buildings above.
The area includes a neglected, empty public
structure at the intersection between Balfur and
Rothschild that is open for intervention.
Documents

Urban master plan in process that will permit
addition of two stories to the street's
buildings and for expansion of commerce.
